  21.    I've got a 1040STfm that I'd like to upgrade to 4 Meg so I can use g++.
  22. I'd like any information on upgrade kits, i.e. company, price, can it go from
  23. 2 Meg to 4 Meg without throwing away some chips, etc.
  24.    If there is sufficient interest I will summarize to the net.

  46. Using any MicroEMACS from version 3.9 up, add the following line to
  47. your emacs.rc file:
  48.  
  49.         set $sres DENSE
  50.  
  51.         and MicroEMACS will go into 50 line mode.  If the VT52 screen
  52. emulator works within overscan mode you can also add the lines:
  53.  
  54.         60 change-screen-size
  55.         90 change-screen-width
  56.         clear-and-redraw
  57.  
  58.         to use the extra space.

  92. I live in Columbus, Ohio, the home of MEI and MicroCenter and
  93. have purchased many diskettes from them over the years. Several
  94. of us would get together and by 500-1000 at a time.  Most of the
  95. time we had very good experience (less than 1% bad with the
  96. people at the store always ready to make replacements).  However,
  97. last year wee got a bunch of diskettes that were trash.  35-40%
  98. failures.  There were obvious scratches of the surfaces.
  99. We carted most of them back and got a refund on some and replacements
  100. on others.  The next batch was better, but not as good as in the
  101. past.
  102.  
  103. I refuse to bitch about the experience for several reasons:
  104.  
  105.  - MicroCenter has always done the "right thing" by either
  106.    replacing the diskettes or refunding my money.
  107.  
  108.  - By buying at such a cheap price, I feel I also am taking a bit
  109.    of risk for the better price.
  110.  
  111.  - As competition as driven the price for diskettes down, they have
  112.    become a strictly price commodity.  I am sure MicroCenter focuses
  113.    on price and occasionally will have a bad batch of diskettes.
  114.    They move such a quantity that they can not test every batch.

  117. BTW - MicroCenter (MEI's retail arm) does not sell Atari.  They are
  118.    all IBM and Apple.  While most of the sales people are good;
  119.    they do have a few that go out of their way to bad mouth the
  120.    ST.  (As if we don't do well enough here B~) ).

  134. I would like to know the timing of /uds, /rom_select and
  135. address valid on the st's rom port,  can anyone help ?.  Also
  136. is it possible to read from the rom port using pc-speed ?,  and
  137. finally what is the sm124 hardware hack that enables the
  138. pc-speed to do 'hyper' hercules emulation,  and has anyone got
  139. the hercules mode to work with graphics in quick-basic 4?.
  140. (The pc-speed disk refers to the hack,  but the UK distributors
  141. apparently have not yet been told what it is).  Any help

  153. Just a little teaser on the state of the major umoria upgrade as it relates
  154. to the ST.  Jim Wilson's code appears to be compilable directly with GNU
  155. C.  I'm working on changes for Mark Williams C.  At present, umoria 5.0
  156. compiles links and runs on the ST with Mark Williams C, but it crashes
  157. right away.  The ST probably won't be far behind other platforms for the new
  158. release of Moria.  And the good part is that the new version is A LOT more
  159. compact than the old one.  There's a decent chance it'll run on 520-s.

  185. I am also interested in a version of either Uniterm or some other PD emulator
  186. that will support color VT340's.  UofH is currently running Vax VMS 5.2 and
  187. soon to be 5.3 and it supoorts the 340 emulation.  The school has around 15 of
  188. the 340 terminals and the are much nicer than the mono vt320's.  Anyway, since
  189. I have both color and mono monitors at home, I was wondering if there was any
  190. support for the vt340's in a possible new version of Uniterm (I have 2.0e).  I
  191. would rather use color than mono....
